Kim Reads Books About Things
I like most books, particularly children's and YA. The fact that I am 21 does not and will never hinder this, and it shouldn't. A good book is a good book is a good book.
Anyway.
I'll read anything I can get my hands on if the mood suits me.
The Lions of Little Rock
I'm torn as to whether or not I think this is REALLY deserving of a Newbery Honor this year like it will probably get. I really liked most of it. If it was any other year, I'd be sold on it. But 2012 is a standout year for children's literature. Come on. Wonder, The One and Only Ivan, and Three Times Lucky are all crazy good, I've heard amazing things about Summer of the Gypsy Moths, and the year isn't even half over and there's so much more good stuff coming! So while I really like this right now, I have no idea whether it will remain in my heart by year's end like the others I've mentioned.Right now, though, it's really worth a look, and Marlee will always be a great protagonist in my eyes.
